The engine simulator is shown here with a PC. The engine simulator has been designed to accept all of the current engine electronic control modules (ECM). A number of software modules are currently available, with more being developed, which allow the engine unit to precisely simulate the intended engine and vehicle application. The engine simulator was one of several simulator designed in conjunction with Caterpillar. The initial specifications required that the units have a 10-year life span. The simulator program is now over 10 plus years old and is still being used by Caterpillar distributors around the world to teach Caterpillar electronics.
